I have been working with Roadrunner Food Bank for almost 2 years, but it wasn’t until recently I had the honor of moving to Las Cruces and becoming the Southern Branch’s Manager of Community Relations. I have only been in Las Cruces now for about 3 months, and I am continually amazed by the generosity and friendliness I have encountered in Southern New Mexico.
When I first started working in the Food Bank’s Southern Branch, I was fortunate enough to be contacted by Richelle Ponder of the Las Cruces Rotary’s Wednesday Group, informing me that we had been selected as the 2013 Taste of Las Cruces Non-Profit Beneficiary. What a great way to begin my time in Las Cruces! Since then I have worked with many wonderful people on the Planning Committee whom have made planning this event fun and rewarding.
Richelle, Hiram, Jan, Sherry and Jodie have been amazing co-planners and friends throughout this whole process and have enriched my first few months in this beautiful and culture-rich town! Through their many efforts, we have been able to recruit twenty restaurants for the event and have been garnering some wonderful community donations for the silent action. They even let me coordinate the event as a food drive and any guests bringing non-perishable food will receive and extra raffle ticket for door prizes.
I can’t thank The Rio Grande Rotary Foundation and all the Rotarians in Las Cruces enough for their generosity and warm welcome to the area! The event is coming up in just two weeks, and I am excited to see it all come together on June 6th. Get your tickets now at American Classifieds on Valley, because it’s bound to sell out fast!
