Make This #HungerActionMonth Count!

“Years ago, we were the ones receiving food and now we feel obligated to return the favor, give back, and prove that no matter your  background, your life story, you can step up and help people out.”

Hunters Helping the Hungry!

Are you a hunter who is looking forward to deer, elk, or other game seasons ahead? What if we told you that not only can you enjoy the rewards of your hunting season, but that you can also help us at Roadrunner feed more hungry New Mexicans?

Proclaiming September as Hunger Action Month in Bernalillo County

During the Bernalillo County NM Commission Meeting on Tuesday evening September 8th, our work at Roadrunner for ‪#‎HungerActionMonth‬ & ‪#‎Spoontember‬ gratefully received some key recognition from our elected officials.   According to our 2015 Report of Service for Bernalillo County, more than 15 percent of the county’s population qualifies as “food insecure.” Fortunately, Bernalillo County commissioners know this reality, too, and wanted to make another stance in helping us solve hunger. Not only did the County Commissioners make a proclamation for September as marking Hunger Action Month across Bernalillo County! They also took the #Spoontember challenge and encouraged as many people across Bernalillo County as possible to take part! Fortunately, we still have almost three weeks left in September for all of you to take part in #HungerActionMonth, in #Spoontember. With the Bernalillo County Commission and innumerable people in businesses, nonprofits, and schools across New Mexico and across the country putting orange spoons on their noses, it’s not too late for you to do the same. Besides orange spoons, though, what else can you do to support solving hunger? How about: Volunteering!  Register to help online at www.rrfb.org/volunteer; Giving!  Visit www.rrfb.org/giveameal and your gift has triple the impact.  Bank of America will match every $1 gift with $2 more; And more! Many thanks to  Bernalillo County commissioners and stakeholders, & many thanks to all of you throughout the community for recognizing with us the work that has been done and the work that continues to be done in solving hunger!
