FOOD BANK'S MOBILE FOOD PANTRY

RESPONDS TO RUIDOSO FLOODING

Provides Over 36,000 Pounds of Food

Albuquerque, NM - July 30, 2008 On July 30, Roadrunner Food Bank sent a truck containing 36,000 pounds of food and supplies to the Angus Nazarene Church in Capitan, New Mexico.  The need of food and supplies was coordinated with local emergency responders and will benefit those affected and relocated by the flooding in Ruidoso, New Mexico.

Executive Director, Melody Wattenbarger said, “When we were alerted to the flooding several days ago, we began pulling inventory in our warehouse immediately that way we could act quickly when responders called on us for support.  That call came this morning and within a few hours the truck was loaded and ready to drive to Capitan.”

Roadrunner Food Bank is prepared to respond to disasters such as the flooding in Ruidoso by providing food, water and other supplies.  In August 2006, the Food Bank provided emergency food to 450 families affected by flooding in Hatch, Alamogordo, Socorro and Laguna, New Mexico.  The food bank also participates in statewide disaster planning.
