BENEFITS OF BEING A PARTNER AGENCY Roadrunner Food Bank distributes a wide variety of donated product for which a maximum shared maintenance fee of 18¢ per pound for food items is assessed. Product is available to all agencies subject to availability, and varies in type and quantities from day to day. Approximately 65% of all food distributed by the Food Bank goes out at no cost. In fact, when all the food distribution is taken into account, whether free or through shared maintenance fees, agencies pay an average of 3¢ per pound for donated product.
Roadrunner Food Bank also purchases food and provides all agencies access to an inventory of purchased products at below wholesale prices.
The Food Bank distributes fresh produce, bread, and milk to local agencies at no cost. We pick up fresh produce, bread, milk and other items from food companies in New Mexico and from locations around the US and then distribute these goods to agencies at our warehouse facility or by direct delivery.
Roadrunner Food Bank coordinates the donation and/or purchase of packaging and packaging services for some food items purchased or donated in bulk form. This packaging/repackaging is done on site in the Food Bank's repack room. These items are made available to agencies in packaged sizes most suitable for the average size family receiving an emergency food box.
