Warehouse / Back Up Driver

 

General Description:

This is an hourly paid, full-time position working in the Food Bank’s warehouse and driving trucks as assigned.  The Warehouse Back Up Driver will assist in the shipping, receiving, storing, and handling of the Food Bank’s inventory in accordance with all applicable policies, procedures, standards, and program guidelines.  Makes pick ups and deliveries as assigned.  Assists in the maintenance and upkeep of facilities and equipment as assigned.  

 

Duties will include:

  • Ensuring that all stock and inventory items are maintained in accordance with all applicable policies, procedures, standards, and program guidelines

  • Ensuring the proper maintenance and recording of inventory levels for food and non-food items through the correct use of the Food Bank’s Shipping, Receiving, and Inventory Control procedures

  • Assisting in the maintenance and care of the Food Bank’s facility and equipment through the Food Bank’s Planned Preventative Maintenance system

  • Making Pick Ups and Deliveries utilizing Food Bank vehicles in accordance with all applicable policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines

  • Assisting in the safety and sanitation of facilities and equipment through compliance with Food Bank guidelines and any applicable local, state, or federal laws or regulations

  • Observing all local, state, and federal regulations in warehouse operations and vehicle transport

  • Reading and understanding production schedules, orders, work orders, shipping orders, or requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed

  • Sorting and placing materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins and boxes according to predetermined sequences such as size, type, style, color, or product code

  • Assembling customer orders from stock and placing orders on pallets or shelves, or conveying orders to staging station or shipping areas

  • Operating scales to weigh inventory items

  • Moving and arranging stock as assigned

  • Sorting and storing perishable goods in the proper refrigerated spaces

  • Driving forklifts and operating other pallet moving equipment as assigned

  • Completing forms, reports, and logs as required

  • Complying with Operations Department policies, systems, and procedures

  • Related duties as required or assigned

 

Minimum Candidate Attributes:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three (3) to six (6) months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence

  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form

  • Have valid Class "B" CDL driver’s license

  • Ability to work nights and weekends as required

  • Ability to communicate and ensure compliance with departmental directives

  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and comprehensive background check

 

Ideal Candidate Attributes:

  • The above qualifications plus the following:

  • One (1) to five (5) years experience in Warehouse Operations

  • Have valid Class "A" CDL driver's license

  • Fluent in Spanish
