Special thanks to all our national food drive partners, especially AARP for providing so many Feeding America food banks paper bags to collect donations in.  We will recycle all the paper bags and plastic bags we received as part of our Green Initiatives.

• The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) which represents 7.2 million pounds of the 26 million pounds Roadrunner Food Bank distributed last year.
• Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) formerly known as food stamps
• Women Infant and Children (WIC)
• Commodity Supplemental Food Drive (CSFP) and others

In less than two months, more than 500 stories about hunger arrived at the Food Bank all on paper plates!  They are from people from all walks of life including children, college students, the unemployed, the disabled, seniors and so many others.  Even though the paper plate stories filled several boxes, each plate represents a life, a family, someone hurt by hunger.   Too many in our community struggle with basic necessities such as food.

We took the 500 hunger stories and shared them with attendees at some of our events and activities this past fall.  Now you too can read some of their stories.
