FIRST SHIPMENTS SENT TO NEW ROSWELL AGENCIES

Pallets of food awaiting pick up

Roadrunner Food Bank sent its first shipment of food directly to our Roswell Partner Agencies last week on April 12th.  Orders from the seven Roswell agencies amounted to almost 20,000 pounds of food! Among the food requested were pallets of fresh vegetables, breads and meats.

The agencies were thrilled with the food. Pastor Rubie Rubenstein of Harvest Ministries and the Roswell Outreach center said “it was great and a real blessing. The quality of food was good and the process was easy. We are so happy to be working with Roadrunner Food Bank. We can help so many more people”

Delivery day also became a community effort with agencies helping each other.  Excess produce was also shared among the agencies. Every one is eagerly awaiting their next shipment.

On the 19th, Roadrunner Food Bank also began distribution to the Artesia and Carlsbad areas.  We are in the process of working out logistics for Lincoln county agencies.

Agency News

Regional Meetings

The new agency quadrant meetings have been very successful!   Agencies have been divided by quadrants in Albuquerque and the different sections of the state The Spanish language agencies were convened separately.

The meetings were designed to help agencies get to know each other, evaluate hunger in their communities, and combine resources to tackle hunger issues together.

Outcomes of our first round of quadrant meetings are:

  • The NW area is working to define agencies in their area so they can identify new partners and resources needed.

  • The SW area has moved quickly to develop the SW Nutritional Task Force with specific tasks ahead.

  • The Southern Region is developing relationships and looking at projects they can work on together in their area.

  • The Northern area which already has strong relationships, is developing a fold-out flyer listing hunger relief resources in their area to for distribution to the police dept. and firefighters.

These collaborations are already having a positive impact on hunger relief, and are creating sustainability for the agencies as well. Look for more to come on these great projects!
