Dear Applicant:

Thank you for your interest in becoming a Roadrunner Food Bank partner agency. Organizations like yours having been partnering with Roadrunner Food Bank for over 25 years.  It’s hard to believe, but hunger is a very real problem in New Mexico.  Statistics show that one out of every six people living in our state will find that they don’t have enough to eat this year.  The face of hunger is the face of a neighbor, a friend, a senior, a parent, and a child.

Some quick facts:

  • 37% of hungry people in New Mexico are children

  • 10% are over 60

  • 1/3 are men and 2/3s are women

  • 46% are working people with average household incomes of less than $700 dollars per month

  • 45% make the choice between paying the rent and buying food

  • 30% choose between buying food or buying medicine or getting needed medical care

Established in 1980, Roadrunner Food Bank is the leader for hunger relief in New Mexico, but because of the vastness of the hunger issue, we know that we cannot face this problem alone.  We count on you to help us.  In turn, we support you and the rest of the charitable community by freeing up your dollars for other activities.

Roadrunner Food Bank solicits, collects, and transports salvageable food from large and small food industry donors nationwide.  We also purchase large quantities of food in bulk.  We then distribute millions of pounds of food each year through a statewide network of over 700 emergency food pantries, group homes, low-income day care centers, shelters, soup kitchens, and seven smaller, regional food banks.  In turn, these organizations (like yours) provide emergency food boxes, congregate meals, and direct distributions to well over 200,000 low-income people each year.

We hope that you find the application process fairly simple and straightforward.  You will find a short application packet that you can download.  Once you have completed it, please return it to the food bank by mail or fax and we will set up a site visit.  If you have any questions, please contact us.

We are really excited that you are interested in partnering with us to feed our many New Mexican neighbors that suffer from hunger and food insecurity.

Thank you for helping those less fortunate in our state!
