In our ongoing appeal to solve hunger across New Mexico, we cannot thank enough the Rotary Del Norte Foundation for their $3,000 contribution to our work!

“Such a contribution makes 15,000 additional meals possible for our hungry neighbors,” Roadrunner President & CEO Melody Wattenbarger said. “The Rotary Foundation and Rotary Clubs of Albuquerque have been strong volunteers with us, too.”

Chuck Brown, President of Rotary Del Norte Foundation, further shared on what inspired their club to offer such a generous donation.

“One reason why we gave to Roadrunner is that we believe it’s an incredibly well-managed organization and that it’s a good steward of all of its resources. Another reason is that hunger prevention is a vital focus area of service for our organization. The sheer multiplying effect of what we give to Roadrunner goes above and beyond in impact anything that we could do on our own.”

The 15,000 meals made possible by Rotary Del Norte’s gift will help nourish hungry neighbors like the students and families at La Mesa Elementary School in Albuquerque. As one teacher there told us about one family,

“Through gentle and persistent conversations with the kids and mom we were able to encourage her to come to the school to check out the BlueCross BlueShield New Mexico Bus. While at the school she was able to witness our food distribution and was encouraged by other people in line to stay and get a box of food. She has now come 5 times and has been so grateful for Roadrunner Food Bank.”
