September is Hunger Action Month!

In New Mexico, 1 in 4 children and 1 in 6 overall struggle with hunger.  High poverty rates leave many struggling to afford all their food needs. But the good news is that a simple action by you can help educate and encourage others to learn more about hunger in our community.

This September, we invite you to join the Food Bank, together with Feeding America’s nationwide network of food banks, to take action in raising awareness about the issue of hunger in our community.

Take the Empty Plate Challenge! Share what would not be possible to do without adequate nutrition, by writing on an empty plate, “On an empty stomach I can’t ______,” and filling in the blank with something they couldn’t achieve without the nutrition we need to thrive.

Take a #selfie of yourself with the plate, and share this unique hunger message on your personal social media sites with #HungerActionMonth and #EmptyPlateChallenge. Tag us in the conversation and @FeedingAmerica too. Links to our social media sites are below.
