Roadrunner Food Bank offers a variety of ongoing skill-based volunteer opportunities. The list below focuses on volunteers with good or excellent computer knowledge.

GENERAL ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT VOLUNTEER
Location and Description: Albuquerque and Las Cruces. Helps with mailings, database management, courtesy calls and other clerical duties in our offices. Administrative volunteers are recruited on an as-needed basis. Please let us know if you’d like to be added to our list of administrative volunteers.
Training: Dependent on task.
Time Commitment: Varies throughout the year.
Skills: Basic to advanced computer knowledge, ability to perform repetitive motions, excellent customer service, excellent phone etiquette.
Desirable Skills: Ability to be flexible in days and times needed, providing additional volunteer hours during the holiday season would be very helpful.
Volunteers Needed: 3-5

EVENT VOLUNTEER
Location and Description: Albuquerque and Las Cruces. The Food Bank benefits from internal and community events every year. Periodically, these events need volunteers to help facilitate and run them. We’d love to have you join us! Special event volunteers are recruited on an as-needed basis.
Training: Dependent on task.
Time Commitment: Varies throughout the year.
Skills: Basic to advanced computer knowledge, ability to perform repetitive motions, excellent customer service, excellent phone etiquette.
Desirable Skills: Ability to be flexible in days and times needed, providing additional volunteer hours during the holiday season would be very helpful.

FINANCE VOLUNTEER
Location and Description: Albuquerque. Position will assist with data entry of cash receipts into the accounting system.  Sources include checks, online donations, and electronic reports.
Training: On the job training in the accounting system.
Time Commitment: Primarily needed during traditional business hours for 20-40 hours a week.
Skills: High attention to detail, basic to advanced computer skills, working knowledge of Excel, trustworthiness/ confidentiality, ability to perform repetitive motions, excellent customer service skills, ability to pull computer reports and reconcile to multiple systems.
Desirable Skills: Ability to be flexible in days and times needed.

HEALTHY FOOD CENTER ADMISSIONS AND CHECK OUT VOLUNTEER
Location and Description: Albuquerque. The Food Bank is serving the Albuquerque-area with a medical referral only pantry in our building. Volunteers interact with families and assist with admission and check-out. Volunteers will also help clients shop and perform general clean up in the Center. Volunteers are needed during pantry hours: (Tuesdays 9 am – 1pm; Wednesdays 1 pm – 5 pm Saturdays 10 am – 2 pm).
Training: 5 hours of classes/orientation.
Time Commitment: At least two 4-hour shifts per month.
Skills: Excellent customer service, ability to work in a busy environment, basic to advanced computer knowledge, desire to work directly with clients.
Desirable Skills: Ability to be on your feet for several hours at a time, ability to lift heavy objects repeatedly, fluent in Spanish.

HEALTHY FOOD CENTER GENERAL ON-HOURS VOLUNTEER
Location and Description: Albuquerque. The Food Bank is providing the Albuquerque-area with a medical referral only pantry in our building. Volunteers interact with families and assist with stocking product, clerical work, shopping, or check-out. There is also need for general maintenance/cleaning of the Center. Volunteers are needed during pantry hours: (Tuesdays 9 am – 1pm; Wednesdays 1 pm – 5 pm Saturdays 10 am – 2 pm).
Training: 5 hours of classes/orientation.

HEALTHY FOOD CENTER GENERAL OFF-HOURS VOLUNTEER
Location and Description: Albuquerque. The Food Bank is providing the Albuquerque-area with a medical referral only pantry in our building. Volunteers work outside of pantry hours helping to stock product, perform data entry, and help with general maintenance and cleaning of the Center. This work is done during times when the pantry is closed.
Training: 1 hour of classes/orientation.
Time Commitment: At least one 4-hour shift per month.
Skills: Basic to advanced computer knowledge, ability to be on your feet for several hours at a time, ability to lift heavy objects repeatedly

Marketing Analytics Internship
Location and Description: Albuquerque.  The Nonprofit Marketing Analytics Internship provides an opportunity to experience real-world marketing analysis in a nonprofit setting.   Interns will work in the Development (Fundraising) Department to gain a better understanding of how donations are processed and how data is interpreted using patterns and trends.
Training: Use of a Constituent Relationship Management Database, Microsoft Excel, and knowledge of the inner workings of New Mexico’s largest food bank.
Time Commitment: 12+ hours a week
Skills: Basic to advanced computer knowledge, attention to detail, willingness to learn,
Desirable Skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and statistical practices

SNAP OUTREACH PHONE HOTLINE VOLUNTEER
Location and Description: Albuquerque.  Volunteers for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) will be trained to provide information and application assistance on the Food Bank’s new SNAP Hotline. Help us as we seek to bridge the gap between available funding and those in need of assistance.
Training: 6 hours total (2 hour initial training, 4 hours Hotline shadowing)
Time Commitment: Minimum 4 hours per month.
Skills: Excellent customer service, basic computer knowledge, excellent phone etiquette, patience, great listening skills, desire to work directly with clients.
Desirable Skills: Fluent in Spanish.
