Skill-Based Volunteer Opportunities

Roadrunner Food Bank offers a variety of ongoing skill-based volunteer opportunities. The list below focuses on volunteers with knowledge of nutrition.

DIETITIAN
Location and Description: Albuquerque.  Through one-on-one counseling and group classes, volunteer dietitians provide nutrition/diet consultation to a diverse client population. A number of Healthy Foods Center clients suffer from chronic disease, such as diabetes and hypertension, and on-site nutritional counseling can be an important resource for their disease management.
Training: TBD
Time Commitment: At least one 4-hour shift per month
Skills: Must possess a nutrition-related degree and be a Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN), excellent customer service, desire to work directly with clients.
Desirable Skills: Fluent in Spanish
Volunteers Needed: 2-3

NUTRITIONIST
Location and Description: Albuquerque.  Nutritionist volunteers would work in the Healthy Foods Center and serve as resources for basic nutrition information, including healthy food choices, recipes, and cooking practices.
Training: TBD
Time Commitment: At least one 4-hour shift per month.
Skills: Students working towards a degree in either nutrition/dietetics or nutrition science, or graduates possessing a nutrition-specific degree, excellent customer service, desire to work directly with clients
Desirable Skills: Fluent in Spanish.
Volunteers Needed: 3-4
