CAUSE MARKETING

For-profit institutions are able to work with non-profits like Roadrunner Food Bank® to raise awareness, money, and/or consumer engagement through cause marketing activities. Cause marketing is typically a promotional marketing campaign held by a for-profit entity to benefit a non-profit organization.  It often has elements of co-branding between the organizations, a call to action by the company to amplify the message of the campaign, and elements of customer activation to engage them in helping raise funds for the non-profit.

These campaigns help both the food bank and our corporate sponsors by raising awareness of our cause to end hunger in New Mexico while tying our names together to support the cause and further the mission.

Examples of Cause Marketing Campaigns

Cause marketing can be achieved in a number of ways:

  • Register campaigns where customers are asked to make a gift at the register during check-out
  • Percent-of-sales campaign around a product or products that generate a donation to a charity
  • Round-up campaigns to the next dollar
  • Online fundraising auctions
  • Launch of a new product, grand opening, etc., with a charitable tie in
  • Matching gift campaigns
  • Product sales that are co-branded with each purchase generating a donation to the charity

Many of our corporate and business sponsors have creative ideas to engage in cause marketing with us and create a mutually beneficial activity that helps end hunger in New Mexico.

Plan Ahead and Share Information with Us

Typically these campaigns are arranged months in advance so we can understand the type of support the food bank staff may be asked to provide. If you are interested in hosting a cause marketing campaign on behalf of Roadrunner Food Bank, please fill out the online form found at the bottom of the web page. It’ll notify our staff about your intentions and help us understand the basic elements of the proposed activity.

After you submit the online form to us, a representative from our staff will reach out to you within a few business days requesting a time to talk by phone or in person. A meeting or phone conversation will help to further clarify the campaign for our staff, as well as its goals and next steps. Roadrunner Food Bank may be able to provide a certain levels of support while balancing the needs of our limited staff resources with advance notice and planning.
