As a volunteer at our Albuquerque based warehouse, your helping hands prep food for distribution leaving our docks for hundreds of locations across the state. Every week tens of thousands of people experiencing hunger rely on our arrival to feed their family. Your helping hands make that happen!

You can volunteer as an individual, with a group, or as part of a court mandate or community service opportunity.

Tips for Individual and Family Volunteers

  • Use the ‎online registration portal for individual and family volunteer appointments only.
  • The registration page allows you to create a username and password to view open volunteer dates and times.
  • When you have successfully created a volunteer appointment, you will receive an email confirming your visit. If you do not receive an email, your appointment or change has not taken effect.
  • Returning volunteers may login and create new volunteer appointments using their login credentials.
  • Teens 16 years and older may volunteer without a parent/guardian (unless it is a school/group sponsored activity). However, they may not supervise other children/teens while volunteering. An adult must accompany children/teens younger than 16.

Tips for Group Volunteers

  • Complete the Group Request Form found here for groups of five or more at least 3 weeks prior to your requested date/time. Provide as many details as possible.
  • We can accommodate groups up to 50 people per volunteer shift.
  • We will get in touch with you to let you know if that date and time is available. If it isn’t available, we will work with you to make plans that work for everyone.
  • After we have confirmed your group volunteer date and time, you will receive a group confirmation email.
  • Types of groups that volunteer:
    • Faith-based and faith-community groups
    • Elementary, mid-school, high school and university groups (children eight years old and up may volunteer with the appropriate number of adults escorting the group)
    • Other charities
    • Families and friends
    • Civic or community-based groups
    • Businesses and companies as a team building opportunity

Tips for Bringing Groups with Children and Teens to Volunteer

  • Children eight years old and up may volunteer with the appropriate number of adults chaperoning them.
  • Children 15 years and under must have 1 adult chaperone for every 4 children or teens helping.
  • Submit the online group form at least 3 weeks in advance to notify us about your request. We will get in touch with you to let you know if that date and time is available. If it isn’t available, we will work with you to make a plan that works for everyone.
  • Children must be 12 years or older to work in our clean rooms.
  • Teens 16 and older may volunteer without an adult chaperone, unless it is part of a school or organization activity.

Tips for Court-Mandated and Community Service Volunteers

  • Individuals who receive a court order to perform community service are accepted at the food bank on a case-by case-basis.
  • Please complete the online form on our Court Mandated Community Service page and our staff will contact you for additional information.
  • Our staff can sign paperwork that documents any hours and dates of community service performed. We can also provide a form for you upon request.
