Join in Giving Tuesday!

#GivingTuesday is an annual global generosity movement that will take place this year on Tuesday, November 28.  The idea is to unleash the power of getting involved and giving back in the community where you live and work. The global movement was started in 2012 with the simple idea of dedicating a day for people to do good. Since it started, it has grown into a worldwide movement and continues to inspire people to give, collaborate and celebrate generosity. The movement encourages giving every and any Tuesday of the year.

At Roadrunner Food Bank, join in our #GivingTuesday efforts! Whether you give time, food or funds, it adds up and makes a difference for people experiencing hunger in our community. No matter how you elect to participate in #GivingTuesday, be sure to share on your social media handles how you took part using the #GivingTuesday and #RoadrunnerFoodBank hashtags.

Read from a few supporters why they give back, take an #Unselfie and post on your social media handles and learn more ways you can join us in taking action this #GivingTuesday.

LEARN HOW FOOD BANKS WORK

Food banks provide critical sources of nutritious food for communities in urban, rural and native communities. They serve a large geographic region, bringing to food through a fleet of semi trucks from their large distribution facilities. In New Mexico, Roadrunner Food Bank distributes food to a hunger relief network of hundreds of partners including food pantries, soup kitchens, healthcare sites and schools (just to name a few).

VOLUNTEER AT A DISTRIBUTION

One way you can help is by volunteering at a food distribution. These are locations away from the food bank and are often held out in the community in urban, rural, frontier, and indigenous communities from Cuba to Chaparral.

VOLUNTEER IN OUR WAREHOUSE

Before food ever leaves the docks at Roadrunner Food Bank, it often requires special handling.  Volunteers help us sort, box and prep food for distribution inside our distribution center.

VOLUNTEER | FOOD ASSISTANCE | PUBLIC BENEFITS

Our HELP CENTER connects people we serve to food assistance.  Volunteers help callers by providing a list of partners in their zip code  to get them immediate, emergency food assistance.  In addition, we can train volunteers to help people apply for public benefits issued through the state of New Mexico including: SNAP, Medicaid, Medicare Savings Program, LIHEAP, LIHWAP and Cash Assistance.
