ADDITIONAL HELP AND RESOURCES
Roadrunner® Food Bank of New Mexico recognizes that if you need help with food, you may need help with other resources too. That is why we have provided a few resources you may want to contact for help with shelter, clothing, support for domestic violence, where to apply for SNAP (food stamp) benefits, WIC, general assistance, and other help.
United Way of Central New Mexico
United Way of Central New Mexico hosts a hotline that any person in our community that may need additional help other than food can contact. The hotline provides a list of resources for needs such as clothing, counseling, disaster services, legal services, shelter, health resources, abuse and assault support, and employment.
Simply dial 2-1-1 or 505.245.1735 on your phone to reach a United Way operator. The United Way hotline operates Monday-Friday from 8am to 5pm. You may also access a list of resources on United Way’s website.

Other Programs
Women, Infant, & Children
The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for New Mexico Women, Infant & Children (WIC) program provides supplemental food to participants and education on nutrition and breastfeeding as well as referrals to health and social programs. WIC helps women with children up to 5 years of age. Visit the New Mexico Department of Health’s website for information.
The Summer Food Services Program
This is federal summer food program run by the New Mexico Children Youth and Families Department. The purpose is to help children who may not have enough food to eat during the summer when school is not in session. In New Mexico, many children rely on the free/reduced breakfast and lunch program during the school year. Over the summer however, children may not have adequate nutrition. To find a list of Summer Food Program sites in your community call 1.800.328.2665 or 505.841.4856. If you are in central New Mexico, check out the City of Albuquerque or Rio Rancho Summer Food Service Program links.
Farmers Markets
Community members that receive SNAP benefits may use their debit/EBT cards at many farmers market locations throughout the state. Produce tends to be an item that many hungry people can’t afford to purchase, but this program allows struggling and hungry people the option to use their debit/EBT card to purchase healthy food such as fruits and vegetables. For a list of participating farmers markets click here.
Diabetes Testing and Management
Many people who have diabetes do not know that they have it. Here is a list of clinics in NM where testing is done funded by the Rural Primary Health Care Act. These clinics provide care for all New Mexicans, even those with no insurance.
If you are living with diabetes here are Tips to Help You Stay Healthy, which were created by a collaborative effort by the Aging and Long-Term Services Department and Department of Health Diabetes Prevention Control Program.
