On the second Saturday in May, the National Association of Letter Carriers and the United States Postal Service host the largest national food drive in the United States. The Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive takes place in 10,000 communities across the country.

In Albuquerque, Belen, Los Lunas and Rio Rancho, food collected through Stamp Out Hunger benefits Roadrunner Food Bank. On Saturday, May 14, we encourage community members to leave out a bag of non-perishable food at their mailboxes. Letter carriers will pick up food donations left at mailboxes and bring them to 11 different post offices. Volunteers and staff sort the food donations on the dock and load it into trailers destined for the food bank.

Food donations are also accepted at post office locations during the week of May 9, and are always welcome at Roadrunner Food Bank during our business hours.

Volunteers are crucial to this event so we encourage you, your family or your group to sign up! To register, click here, look for “2022 Stamp out Hunger” and select your area of Albuquerque (Northwest, East, North, South).

In addition to non-perishable food items, you are also welcome to donate funds. Every dollar donated to Roadrunner Food Bank helps us distribute up to five meals to New Mexicans experiencing hunger.

We thank you for all the ways you choose to support this event!

The National Association of Letter Carriers is also hosting this year’s food drive event in the following communities across New Mexico: Alamogordo, Artesia, Carlsbad, Deming, Farmington, Hobbs, Las Cruces, Las Vegas, Los Alamos, Lovington, Roswell, Santa Fe and Socorro.
